REUNION
Kate McGee, Evening Gazette, 25th January 1994
A chat between former school pals has lead to a grand reunion being organised for pupils who attended Richard Hind School in the immediate post-war years.
Barry Cummings and Stan Denham, who were pupils at the Yarm Road school in Stockton, regularly meet up to support the 'Boro at Ayresome Park.
And now the pair have taken it upon themselves to arrange an old boys reunion.
Mr. Cummings, 60, of Eaglescliffe, said: "We know there are a few other ex-Richard Hind pupils in the area and we thought it was about time we all got together to wallow in nostalgia."
A date has been fixed at Stockton Cricket Club for February 18 and more than 70 Richard Hind old boys are already set to turn up.
Mr. Cummings, a retired headteacher with Manor Comprehensive School in Hartlepool, said: "We've also been collecting memorabilia and there will be a display at the club on the night."
A Gazette reader now living in London also hopes to meet up with old pals from his school football team at Richard Hind School.
Alan Dodsworth was 13 when he played in the team that lost the Salter Cup at Oxbridge's Victoria Ground in 1953-54.
Centre forward Alan said he was credited in the Gazette with scoring his team's two goals, but admits the glory should have gone to his friend Barry Heath.
